Cette espèce est extrêmement grégaire et ses colonies comprennent des milliers d'individus, mais il y a des limites à la promiscuité supportable. Le parent manifeste son hostilité à un voisin qui empiète sur l'espace vital de la famille.		The picture: what is it? A King Penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus) and its chick in the middle of a rookery. This species is extremely gregarious and its colonies gather thousands of individuals, but there is a limit to the acceptation of overcrowding. The parent is displaying hostility to a neighbour who encroaches on the family's privacy.
Où est-ce ? À l'Île de la Possession, dans l'Archipel Crozet (Terres Australes et Antarctiques Françaises), vers 46:30°S et 52°E, à la limite de l'Océan Austral et de l'Océan Indien. Plus précisément à la Grande Manchotière, voisine de la base Alfred Faure dont quelques bâtiments de service empiètement d'ailleurs pratiquement sur la colonie.		Where is it? At Île de la Possession, in the Crozet Archipelago (Terres Australes et Antarctiques Françaises), near 46:30°S, 52°E, at the boundary of the Southern Ocean and the Indian Ocean. More precisely at the Great Penguin Rookery, in the vicinity of the Alfred Faure Base. Some service buildings of the latter actually encroach somewhat on the rookery.
Quand ? Le 18 février 1999, lors d'une escale de quelques heures vers la fin d'une longue campagne océanographique (51 jours de mer) à laquelle je participais.		When? On 18 February 1999 during a call of a few hours at the island, near the end of a long oceanographic cruise (51 days at sea) in which I was taking part.
